No Likeness Concerns

A close, expressive profile portrait made without concern for capturing a specific likeness, freeing the brushwork to prioritize structure and mood over resemblance. Warm reddish tones dominate the weathered, textured face, built with loose, confident strokes that emphasize the underlying planes of cheek and brow. The soft sage-green background stays atmospheric and undefined, avoiding any literal setting. A full, textured beard is rendered with quick, layered marks that add real dimensional weight. The overall impression is loose and confident, technical freedom clearly prioritized over portrait accuracy.
