Not Swanson Repeat Sketch

A companion graphite study to an earlier oil sketch, the same balding, mustached likeness reworked in pure pencil with a visible collar and tie suggesting formal attire. Loose, varied crosshatching builds the weathered face with real dimensional presence, while the heavier jawline and steady gaze retain the same wry, deadpan character as its painted counterpart. Minimal detail in the clothing keeps full focus on the expressive, closely observed face. The overall mood is familiar and confident, a repeated exercise in capturing a specific, memorable character through line alone.
