This is a by-request data analysis project. You pick a topic with a publicly available data source, I’ll crunch the data and analyze it for you. If you have a specific question you’re trying to answer (like “what’s the highest average salary sports position?”) that is even better. Examples of data analysis I’ve done can be found in the main Amdall Gallery post pages, but here are some topics I’ve explored:
- Airline seat pitch (rough approximation of leg room)
- Airline fleet counts
- U.S. sports team salary averages
- U.S. sports salaries by highest paid position (per season, game, and minute)
- Mass shootings in the U.S.
- Fitbit fitness tracking data over a year
- Cryptocurrency performance comparisons
- Housing price growth comparisons (North Texas versus Louisiana)
You’ll get the data in an Excel spreadsheet, processed and presented in Pivot Tables and graphs. The biggest task for you as the requester is to make sure what you’re looking for is actually available somewhere for free. Most things are, after some digging. I can usually find something we can use. But, if I can’t get access to the information, then there isn’t much we can do. So, it helps if you know it’s out there somewhere. Also, don’t worry if you found a source of information and it’s not in an easy-to-export format; I can usually figure that out using macros and other techniques.
This price also assumes the request is a fairly standard data analysis, similar in scope to the examples I’ve posted above. If it’s something significantly larger, requiring massive amounts of time to complete (anything beyond a couple hours), the listed price won’t be enough. If you aren’t sure, check out the data analysis posts I’ve listed; they are pretty detailed and should give you a good idea of what I’m willing to do.
