This painting was a case of “almost there but for some minor details.” I was able to achieve the right angles and pose, but the facial expression is the “almost” part of this equation. It’s really close to what I wanted, but there is some subtle impression of a goofy smirk that I wasn’t trying to capture. I think if this is one I tried again, I might end up with a different impression.
