Old Man by the Sea – Art Print of an Oil Painting. I went through a phase when I was very interested in the concept of painting subjects who are in the act of painting or writing. Just sort of a fun pose to practice. Although I like the end result, I wasn’t actually able to accomplish exactly what I had in mind. Art does have its ups and downs, and sometimes the paint brush just doesn’t obey what your brain commands. But in a way, that’s another fun side of creating art – these detours can create new, unexpected pieces that have their own value beyond what you originally intended.

Additional Details: Original oil painting by Jon Amdall using alla prima direct painting technique, Utrecht brushes, Gamblin and Utrecht paints, and Strathmore paper. Art prints are from FinerWorks on their Premium Giclee thick (21-mil) heavy weight (310g) paper. For artwork with multiple size options, the first listed is always the original dimensions, with similar orientations in larger sizes following. For example, for paintings that were originally square, I’ll offer a few square size options, then some cropped vertical or horizontal choices.
