Privacy Policy – Art Catalog App

Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026

Overview

Art Catalog is a personal cataloging tool for tracking artwork and related sales. It does not have user accounts, does not run in the cloud, and does not share data with any other person or company. Everything you enter stays on the device (or local network) where the app is running.

Information stored by the app

The app stores only what you type in or upload yourself:

  • Catalog details you enter — titles, sizes, dates, materials, notes, and similar fields describing your artwork
  • Images you upload of your artwork
  • Transaction details you enter — buyer names, sale amounts, and notes
  • A couple of app preferences (like light/dark mode) saved in your browser

None of this is collected automatically — it only exists because you typed it in or chose to upload it.

Where your data lives

Catalog and transaction records are stored in a local database file, and uploaded images are stored as local files, both on the computer running the app. App preferences (like your theme choice) are stored in your browser’s local storage on your device. None of this is transmitted to any external server.

What the app does not do

  • No account creation, login, or password
  • No analytics, tracking, or advertising
  • No third-party SDKs
  • No location data
  • No sharing or selling of any data, to anyone

In-app purchase

The one-time “Full App Unlock” purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. This app never receives, transmits, or stores any payment information — Apple handles the transaction and verifies it on your device.

About the Description field

Each catalog entry has a plain “Description” text field. For entries added during the catalog’s initial setup, some of that text was originally written using Anthropic’s Claude, based on the artwork’s image, as a one-time step — after that, it’s stored and treated exactly like any other text field, and the app itself does not call any AI service while you’re using it. If a future version adds a live “generate description” feature that sends an image to an AI service while you’re using the app, this policy will be updated to say so before that happens.

Other people’s information

The Transactions tab lets you record a buyer’s name alongside a sale. That information is entered by you, about someone else, and is stored locally the same way as everything else in the app — it is not shared anywhere.

Your control over your data

Because everything lives locally, you’re always in full control of it. Deleting a catalog or transaction entry in the app permanently removes it. Deleting the app’s data folder removes everything at once.

Children’s privacy

This app is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children.

Changes to this policy

If how this app handles data ever changes — for example, adding cloud sync or an account system — this page will be updated to reflect that before the change ships.
