Regular Eats — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Overview
Regular Eats is a personal restaurant-tracking app. It does not have user accounts, does not run in the cloud, and does not share data with any other person or company. Everything you enter stays on your device.
Information stored by the app
The app stores only what you type in or upload yourself:
- Restaurant details you enter — names, cuisine, price point, notes, ratings, and similar fields
- Photos you add of the food or menu
- Addresses or map coordinates you enter or capture from your device’s location, if you choose to tag a restaurant’s location
- A couple of app preferences (like light/dark mode and your favorites filter) saved on your device
None of this is collected automatically — it only exists because you typed it in, uploaded it, or tapped “use my current location.”
The Map feature and location data
Everything in this app stays on your device, with one exception: the Map feature uses Apple MapKit to display map tiles and your saved restaurant pins. Loading map tiles means your device talks to Apple’s own mapping service, the same as any Maps app on iOS. A restaurant only gets a map pin if you explicitly tap “use my current location” while adding or editing it — the app never accesses your location otherwise, and never sends your location or restaurant list to any server of ours.
Where your data lives
Restaurant records are stored in a local database file, and photos are stored as local files, both on your device. App preferences are stored in local storage on your device. None of this is transmitted to any external server.
What the app does not do
- No account creation, login, or password
- No analytics, tracking, or advertising
- No third-party SDKs beyond Apple’s own MapKit for the Map feature
- No sharing or selling of any data, to anyone
In-app purchase
Regular Eats offers a 7-day free trial of the full app, followed by a one-time, non-subscription purchase to keep using the Map and CSV import/export features. This purchase is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store — the app never receives, transmits, or stores any payment information; Apple handles the transaction and verifies it on your device.
Your control over your data
Because everything lives locally, you’re always in full control of it. Deleting a restaurant entry in the app permanently removes it. Deleting the app removes everything at once. You can also export your full restaurant list as a CSV file at any time for your own backup.
Children’s privacy
This app is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children.
Changes to this policy
If how this app handles data ever changes — for example, adding cloud sync or an account system — this page will be updated to reflect that before the change ships.
