A 2018 Liebster Award for Amdall Gallery

Liebster Award Header3

As you can see from the title, this site was nominated for a Liebster Award, which is given to blogs by other bloggers. So, right from the top, thank you to Christine Mallaband-Brown for the nomination! Christine is a talented artist, so that’s really cool to be nominated by someone like her.

The Liebster Award – What is this Thing?

When I first came across these and tried to figure out what they were, I thought it might be some online version of a chain letter. Someone sends you one, then you send it to six more people, then they each send it to six more, and so on. In some respects, it is sort of like that. It’s actually more altruistic though, and helps people promote their sites through the broader blogging community. It seems like a great way to “pay it forward” to other blogs you’ve enjoyed, which is something I can really get behind. I’ve even dedicated posts to doing exactly that, but I think this award is a more interesting way to do it.

From what I’ve read, the award started in Germany in 2011. According to Google Translate, Liebster means “dearest” in German. I’m not sure how accurate that translation is, but at least it doesn’t mean “terrible website” or something. It’s supposed to be given to blogs with less than 1000 followers, with the intention of helping those sites grow their following. As I said above, it’s a nice way to spread the love to sites that aren’t huge.

How Does it Work?

Basically, here’s the rundown on how the Liebster Award works:

Questions Answered, Facts About Jon and Amdall Gallery

Like I said, most of these questions are from the blogger who nominated me for this Liebster Award. I think I answered all of the ones she asked, but I wanted to add a couple.

You inherit your parents’ trauma, but you will never fully understand it.”

– BoJack Horseman (I’m told it’s related to the show, but not actually from it).

Pray for rain all you like, but dig a well as you do it

– The Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King.

“To pretend wisdom of the past from the safety of the present.”

– Nobody’s Fool by Richard Russo.

And I asked myself about the present: how wide it was, how deep it was, how much was mind to keep.”

– Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.

My Nominees for a 2018 Liebster Award

Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me if these folks “officially” accept the award by writing a post. I’m just glad to link to them, hopefully they’ll gain a few new viewers for the cool stuff they do. Anyway, these bloggers are awesome, so I just wanted to share their sites.

The Rules – If You’re Nominated, Here’s What People Usually Do

You’re supposed to repost the rules from whoever nominated you, but I’ll add some commentary too. From what I’ve seen on other sites, for a nominee to accept the award you are supposed to follow through with these basic things:

My Ideas for Nominee Questions

Just some ideas, if they help you get rolling talking about yourself and your site!

Wow…this entire post ended up being pretty huge! I wonder if anyone read the entire thing? Honestly, I almost didn’t (I hope that’s not too obvious from typos). Thanks again to Christine Malland-Brown for the nomination, this was quite a fun thing to do.
