Indoor Sunset Through a Window – Art print of an oil painting. Even though I have gotten a lot of practice under my belt, I still I fall into the same traps and pitfalls I’ve fallen in dozens of times already. In fairness, I know that I have grown quite a bit as an artist and painter – 240ish oil portraits have definitely helped in terms of repetition. But I feel like I have a long way to go still to really get the paintbrush to do what I want it to. In this painting specifically, I had a rough starting paint sketch that I had to wipe clean. I was able to recover though and got some nice indoor sun effect in this one.
Additional Details: Original oil painting by Jon Amdall using alla prima direct painting technique, Utrecht brushes, Gamblin and Utrecht paints, and Strathmore paper. Art prints are from FinerWorks on their Premium Giclee thick (21-mil) heavy weight (310g) paper. Scans of originals are 720 DPI, 48 bit color, to capture the smallest details and textures.
