Of the paintings with prints currently available, this is the earliest/oldest. The reason I am so fond of this one is because it was one of my first figure studies – not quite the first, but certainly the first I’d consider to be a success from an artist standpoint. This was completely freehand without any measuring tool, and I was able to gauge proportions fairly well. Although the trees and background are not refined, it’s still a good marker for me in terms of learning and is a piece I am proud of.
