Woman Legs Crossed Dark Background – Art Print of an Oil Painting. This is an alla prima oil painting I did of a woman sitting. When I paint portraits, quite a few random thoughts cross my mind, and in this one I spent some time dwelling on the dynamic blending wet on wet technique allows for, and how much I enjoy the soft edges you are able to create. This is especially fun around the hair and as features fade into the background a bit. I also thought about how much I love dark backgrounds in paintings, and about how I really stumbled at the beginning here and didn’t follow my usual routines. Overall, this scene turned out well despite not quite sticking to my typical process.
